Where we are going

The following are 3 key responsibilities that the position will be accountable for on a day-to-day basis.  

Technical Leadership

• As a Technical Manager, you will drive technical planning and execution on a cross-functional development team to build, launch, and support all solutions to Amanotes music-tech needs for an Enterprise scale system to distribute music to a huge number of users
• You will lead the engineering component of the team and provide direction to senior technical leads. In this key leadership role, you will work closely with other product leaders and technical partners as the technical subject matter expert for the team
• You will balance strategic and tactical direction to deliver and maintain stable, scalable, cost-effective solutions with focused innovations
• You set project technical standards and policies, define high-level architecture, processes and tools, and technical budgets
• You are accountable for the technical design and implementation of backend system through production and support as a live service
• You ensure the quality, performance, and stability of technical deliverables meet commitments
• You improve team efficiency through identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions
• You identify and manage technical dependencies and risks
• You collaborate and manage partnerships with internal and external technical partners

Product Leadership

• Understand and help define the product vision and business needs
• Represent the project and team to stakeholders
• Balance technical, product, and business requirements with successful outcomes
• Empower and manage expectations for production & design

People Management

• Direct line management. Accountable for managing individual performance and professional growth, including personal development and/or leadership capabilities via coaching and mentoring
• Direct management of a team. Create and maintain a robust team culture that embraces delivery, ownership, teamwork, learning and continual improvement. Maintaining the wellbeing of the team by fostering safety, inclusivity, fun and diversity of thought is critical.
• Lead recruitment and onboarding of permanent and contractor team members in line with Gamba & Amanote’s hiring process

Your Skills and Experience

• Experience designing and shipping backend systems to serve millions of daily users.
• In-depth knowledge of enterprise systems, networking modules, and software integration
• Strong experience in either the front-end, back-end, architecture and/or infrastructure, or web services.
• Strong people (engineering) management experience, strategic team planning, chief solution architecture, technical cost, infrastructure designs, and cost management.
• Have a track record of designing, developing, and implementing complex, low-latency, large-scale mobile applications and/or web services. ( > 1M users)
• Experience with backend technologies: Java, NodeJS, ElasticSearch, Redis, SQL & NoSQL
• Experience in Cloud Architecture: AWS, GCP
• Experience in project management and service-oriented architecture (SOA)
